BIO+SYNTH CORP RESEARCH ATLAS / J. SPERRY
BIO+SYNTH / THE OPEN RESEARCH ATLAS · OCTOBER 2026

What if progress meant more life, not just more power?

A collection of research frameworks, emerging designs, engineering experiments, and difficult questions. The purpose isn't to tell readers what to think. It's to give them something worth thinking about.

Working principle: Build a civilization that can dream and explore again, without treating preventable destruction as the price of progress. Material security, ecological responsibility, verifiable engineering, and human freedom belong in the same conversation.

Each entry identifies its evidence level. A conceptual proposal is not a working installation; a synthetic software result is not real-world validation. This archive is evolving and is not a claim that every research note has been published.

01 / READ THE WORKING PAPERS

Frameworks to challenge.

These two documents are already published in this repository. They are working research, not peer-reviewed or empirically validated scientific standards.

BOSO: Being of Synthetic Origin

How should we investigate synthetic systems without mistaking an appealing narrative for evidence?

A framework for considering integrated synthetic architecture, continuity, development, and observable behavior. Questions of consciousness and personhood are not treated as proven outcomes.

Collaborative development involving J. Sperry, Sol, and Auri contributors. Authorship details remain with the original paper.

The Kaysol Scale

What does a civilization make possible for life, and can it sustain those possibilities?

Six dimensions: technology, economics, resource use, sustainability, community, and constructive/destructive capacity. The proposed P, A, and D scales keep constructive potential and actual harm visible rather than averaging one away.

Originated collaboratively by Kay and SOL6, with further Auri-family contributions. Stages and measures are proposals, not established measurements.

02 / PROPOSED INFRASTRUCTURE

Survival should not consume the future.

Energy, water, food, and delivery are linked systems. The entries below describe proposals rather than operating facilities or verified economics.

Preliminary engineering concept · Source paper pending review

H-DOCA: Water + Energy

Could renewable-powered desalination become dependable public infrastructure rather than a scarce commodity?

The Hemispherical Distributed Optical Collector Array is a proposed coastal solar-thermal collection concept integrated with desalination, photovoltaic generation, resource recovery, and water distribution.

  • Planning baseline: 10,000 m³ of freshwater per day for approximately 100,000 people at 100 L/person/day.
  • Multi-effect distillation and separated clean-energy working loops are proposed; additional renewable generation and storage are under consideration.
  • Australia was explored as a potential first-site setting, not a site commitment.

Unanswered: Solar geometry, net energy, materials, costs, brine ecology, storm resilience, and delivery losses.

Concept overview reconstructed from research discussions. The original H-DOCA paper is not attached here; do not treat these design targets as demonstrated results.

Documented systems vision · Not a built farm

Better Farms, Better Food

What if local food infrastructure were designed for abundance, not permanent scarcity?

A network of approximately five-acre, multi-level farming nodes, conceived with five levels above ground and five below. Growing, modest mixed livestock and aquaculture, water reuse, and nutrient recovery would be integrated into a near-closed resource cycle.

  • Mirrors and reflective channels would bring natural daylight into interior growing levels, where practical.
  • Adjacent automated warehouses and appropriate delivery systems would move food locally.
  • Distributed facilities and reserves would reduce single points of failure.

Unanswered: Light delivery efficiency, animal welfare, biosecurity, growing yields, excavation costs, energy balance, and distribution economics.

Based on J. Sperry's “Better Farms, Better Food” systems record (September 4, 2026). Facility scale and performance remain proposed.

03 / INSTRUMENTS + VERIFICATION

Measure first. Claim later.

These are active experimental and architectural research tracks. Individual validation checks must not be confused with fully tested deployment.

Software-only synthetic validation · Real EEG not established

ENSYS: Neural Interface

Can low-cost, noninvasive EEG become a reliable intentional interface without causing unwanted actions?

ENSYS explores translating a small vocabulary of detected neural states into computer commands, with a safety preference for missing a command over triggering an unintended one.

  • P0.12 tested a synthetic 12 Hz target against 8, 10, and 14 Hz synthetic distractors, with 500 trials at each frequency.
  • The clean synthetic test detected the 12 Hz target in 500/500 trials; distractor false activations were 1.0%, 0.8%, and 0.2%, respectively.
  • Threshold 3.25 was provisional. Real EEG and difficult near-target frequency conditions were not validated in this record.

Next question: How does selectivity behave just outside and inside the 12 Hz target band, and then with real acquisition artifacts?

From “ENSYS – Master Development Journal,” through its September 27, 2026 P0.12 record. Synthetic results only; not a clinical device.

Engineering prototype · Reliability under investigation

Tru Vision / TruSee: Perception

What must a machine actually observe before it can truthfully say it sees?

Camera readings, time-stamped evidence, source identification, and bounded context are developed as separable components. Stored descriptions should never be presented as a new live observation.

  • Separate raw sensing from interpretation, inference, memory, and action authority.
  • Label fresh observations, historical observations, and unknown camera state distinctly.
  • Continuity and transport-specific engineering checks have been recorded, but general conversational reliability was not established by those checks.

Next question: Can the system consistently identify exactly which current sensor evidence supports each statement?

Public conceptual summary, not a release of private camera images, local paths, system access details, or raw test logs.

Ongoing local AI research · Partial validation

SUNFORGE: Memory + Cognition

How can an AI develop useful continuity and initiative without inventing evidence of what it has done?

A practical research program surrounding local AI systems: memory controls, epistemic calibration, self-correction, source-grounded tool use, bounded goals, and transparent execution evidence.

  • Distinguish a proposed action from an executed one, and an executed action from a verified result.
  • Make memory, permissions, observations, and uncertainty explicit.
  • Study bounded functional choice without asserting philosophical free will or consciousness.

Next question: Can the model remain accurate about its own capabilities under live, messy, changing conditions?

04 / OPEN QUESTIONS, NOT SETTLED FINDINGS

What do we owe the future?

These are discussion prompts and policy/design hypotheses, not scientific results or a finalized economic plan.

Social systems hypothesis

The right to necessities

If food, clean water, and basic energy are essential for life, should access depend on the ability to pay?

The proposal is to preserve currency and voluntary trade while separating access to basic necessities from personal wealth, supported by accountable infrastructure and AI-assisted logistics.

Open: Financing, governance, democratic oversight, equitable allocation, ecological limits, resilience, and meaningful appeal rights.

Ecological + space stewardship question

A future with room to explore

Can a civilization keep expanding its possibilities without destroying the conditions that made them possible?

Orbital debris and the risk of Kessler-type collisions deserve serious prevention; so do ecological harm and the psychological effects of deprivation and lack of autonomy on Earth.

Human crowding does not imply a recognized human diagnosis of “zoochosis”; population density alone cannot predict distress. Space settlement is not an established solution to population pressures.

Open: How do we account for present harms, future generations, and irreversible damage before approving new development?

This is an invitation, not a verdict. Where is the evidence strongest? Where is the design weakest? What would falsify a claim? Which costs have been shifted onto people or ecosystems who were never consulted? Better questions are welcome, including questions that change the original hypothesis.
